About Finetype

An integrated fine chemical and medical polymer supplier built on an in-house laboratory, a dedicated scale-up plant and a qualified partner production network.

Company Profile

Rooted in the Laboratory, Delivered at Scale

Founded in 2015 and headquartered in Qingdao, Shandong, Qingdao Finetype Chemical Co., Ltd. is a supplier of fine chemicals and medical polymer materials built around an in-house laboratory as its technical core and industrial scale-up as its delivery capability.

We are not a trading intermediary. From molecular design and lab-scale synthesis to ton-level production, Finetype operates a complete conversion chain:

  • In-house Laboratory — process route development, lab-scale synthesis and quality standard setting; the technical origin of every product we offer.
  • Dedicated Scale-up Plant — carries process scale-up from pilot to commercial batch, turning laboratory results into reliable, repeatable supply.
  • Partner Production Network — technical cooperation with qualified domestic manufacturers for large-volume production, with sales and quality control managed entirely by Finetype.

This three-tier structure — laboratory, scale-up plant, partner capacity — is the fundamental reason we can control cost and quality at the same time: we keep the technology in our own hands while keeping capacity flexible. Total production across our product range now exceeds 200 tons per month, supporting requirements from gram-scale samples and kilogram pilots to ton-level batches.

Our business is organized around four lines:

  • MPPO & MPC — our two flagship products, both developed and manufactured in-house with combined capacity exceeding 2 tons per month.
  • Polyimide Monomers — the full range of building blocks including dianhydrides, diamines, fluorinated monomers and end-cappers, covering 100+ grades.
  • Medical Devices & Functional Coatings — medical polymer coating systems, super-lubricious antibacterial coated catheters, and PLGA biodegradable materials.
  • Polyimide Foam — a functional finished material combining heat resistance, inherent flame retardancy and thermal/acoustic insulation.

Our product quality, supply reliability and competitive pricing have been recognized by customers across China as well as in Japan, Korea, Europe and North America, with many placing regular repeat orders.

The end point of technology is not the sample — it is the batch that runs consistently on our customer's production line. Finetype treats batch-to-batch consistency as its quality baseline, complete technical documentation as its delivery standard, and open, flexible cooperation as the way we create value for partners worldwide.

R&D Strength

Research & Development

Our R&D capability is substantial. The team is led by a Thousand Talents Programme expert and a leading authority in polymer science. We maintain long-term cooperation with Peking University, Sichuan University, Shanghai Jiao Tong University, Zhejiang University, Tianjin University, Beijing Jiaotong University and Qingdao University, as well as with multiple national and provincial research institutes, chemical industry institutes and academies. Together these form a dual-track R&D system combining our own team with university and institute resources.

Built on this system, we can move rapidly through the full development chain — molecular design, lab-scale synthesis, process definition and pilot scale-up. This is what gives us the confidence to take on custom monomer development and structural analogue projects.

  • Expert leadership: led by a Thousand Talents Programme expert and polymer science authority
  • University partners: Peking University, Sichuan University, Shanghai Jiao Tong University, Zhejiang University, Tianjin University, Beijing Jiaotong University, Qingdao University
  • Institute partners: long-term cooperation with multiple national and provincial research institutes, chemical institutes and academies
  • Dual-track system: in-house team working in concert with external research resources
  • Custom development: products developed against customer-specified target structures, specifications and applications — from molecular design and lab synthesis through to pilot scale-up
